Double Trouble Luv by LM Preston

I managed to snag a copy of this beauty from one of my favorites! If you've never read anything by LM Preston, I recommend you fix that injustice, immediately! :-D In fact, I'm even putting the links at the bottom of my review for your convenience. At the time of me posting this, it's at 99 cents!

LM Preston is one of those authors that lift my moods, even when I'm having a bad day. I happened to pick this one up when I was having one of those days, and once again, I wasn't disappointed.

Though I was a little concerned at first. I won't deny it. From page one, you get to know Sorina and what a train wreck her family is dealing with. They literally lost everything. They have almost no money, lost their house, and are even seemingly living separate lives, just trying to rebuild. Serina's dad is off looking for a job, Serina and her mom are trying to make ends meet on their end while praying they have a roof over their heads, even for the night, and Serina's young brother is living with her aunt, where he is fully cared for and oblivious to the hardships the others are dealing with.

Serina's mother bought her a season pass to an amusement park, against her father's wishes. It seemed like a silly, frivolous expense, but it was probably the best thing she could have done for her daughter. It was a distraction for Serina, somewhere for her to spend her time, and somewhere to make a friend or two. On her first day there, she even met Tristan, a guy who immediately caught her attention. He asked her to pretend to be his girlfriend for the day, and she was hooked. Once their friendship started to develop, Tristan even offered her a job to help her situation.

The characters are overall likable, believable, and interesting. The author captures both the carefree nature of teenagers, while showing Serina's struggle to come to terms with having to put some of that behind her so she and her family can survive. The constant battle between wanting to have fun and fighting for survival had me hooked, even when I was a little iffy about the mood at first. However, you'll also notice that something just isn't right that has nothing to do with Serina's homeless situation. Although the story is short, there is still room for a few twists, and that room was fully taken advantage of.

And honestly, that's one of my favorite things about LM Preston's contemporary stories. I can read them in a sitting for a quick pick-me-up. But they're also full, developed stories that never allow me to feel shorted in any way.

The Fine Line's 2nd Edition is FREE on Smashwords!

There is a fine line between the world of the living and the world of the dead, and Robin Hillard and her handsome husband Dr. Matthew Gregory are about to cross it. After the two meet in the ER of the local hospital, Robin and Matt begin a whirlwind romance. Matt surprises Robin when he proposes to her in the midst of the beautiful Pikeview Manor, the home that Matt has just purchased for them to begin their lives together. What the newlyweds are unaware of is that by walking through the front door they have walked between the worlds. The couple begins to hear strange noises, find objects moved, and they see the shadows once hidden within the majestic house.

Robin has dreams of the past, while Matt struggles with the line between science and the world of the unseen. Matt’s young daughter Olivia begins speaking of the little girl that she plays with in her room, and of the darkness lurking within every board, nail, brick, and tile of the house. The family’s love and strength is tested as they realize that terror is not imagined…its real!

Dr. Lauren Harris is a brilliant nationally respected forensic psychologist with a secret. She is an empath who can emotionally connect with the spirits of dead, seeing through their eyes, and giving them a voice. When she is called upon by the FBI to help track down and stop The Phantom, a hedonistic serial killer, she is confronted with the one thing she has always feared when she meets Agent Nicholas Bennette.

The two find it difficult to work with at first due to their differences and the sexual tension building like wild fire between them. As Lauren connects with The Phantom’s victims she finds herself trying to make sense of the visions feeling overwhelmed with the knowledge that so much has been left undone in their lives. She learns that the dead will no longer be silenced when they have a voice through her. As the body count rises and a passionate romance begins with Nicholas, Lauren discovers that she has been targeted by The Phantom, and she is frightened to learn that she too has left much undone in her life as well.

Through Glass Darkly is a completely NEW RELEASE!

Olivia Gregory, whom we met in the The Fine Line, the first book of the Between World’s series, is all grown up, and despite her stable upbringing, makes life choices that lead her down a very destructive path. Attempting to run from the horrors of her past, these choices lead her far away from her family and the safety of Pikeview Manor.

After a near death experience, Olivia is forced to look through the glass darkly and her life takes another dramatic turn. Influenced by a special companion, Olivia becomes a cop in the K-9 division. One fateful April afternoon, she stumbles upon the hanging body of a murdered young girl—one of a soon to be long list of victims of the Tic-Tac-Toe killer.

Along with her smoking hot partner, Daniel Knight and Dr. Lauren Harris-Bennette, a nationally respected forensic psychologist and the key crime solver in The Phantom murders, Olivia is drawn into a case that could cost her everything.

Eirny News for March!

Hey, everyone! I've got great news! I set my deadline to finish the re-edit and re-format for The Rapture of Avery Maye for March 31. Why? Because it's Baby Volf's first birthday, and it sounded like a great marker. Especially since I'll be a blubbery mess that day and won't have time to do much after.

Whoa, hey! What? That doesn't sound so exciting. I mean, baby birthdays are great and all but ...

Hang on! I'm not done!

I finished this re-edit and re-format EARLY! So exciting! I'll let you know when I'm able to officially re-release it as soon as I know, myself! It's getting close! I've been working my amazing cover girl, Megan Parker at Emcat Designs, SO HARD! But, as always, she's amazing!

Anyways ...

Because Rapture is getting a new cover, that means the old cover will be GONE! I'm leaving it up for purchase until March 31! So if you want the old cover (Collector's Item, guys!), it will still be available until then! I WILL NOT have extras! So if you want it, grab it while you can!

After March 31, if you want to buy Rapture of Avery Maye, it will look like this piece of gorgeousness!

Until then, I'm currently working on the re-edit and re-format for Blood of Eirny! I'll also be revealing that cover VERY SOON!

Speaking of Chronicles of Eirny (and all the stories that go with it), something you may not notice yet, since I've only shared 2 of the new covers! All the tags on the front covers, when placed in chronological order, make a poem that tells the whole (condensed) story of Eirny and the major groups who reside there! Since I can't reveal all the covers to you right now, I'll at least let you see this! It will also be in the front of all of the books!

So who do we have, here? It certainly can't be everyone, can it? Not even. However ...

  1. Of Land & Sea (prequel - Mermaids)
  2. Still currently unnamed (prequel - Werewolves and Vampires [I tied these together for a reason that I can't reveal yet. Sorry.])
  3. Undertaken (prequel - Demons)
  4. Rapture of Avery Maye
  5. Blood of Eirny
  6. Queen of Demons (I know! I haven't told you all much about this one, but it's in progress!)

Who are you looking forward to reading about?

Catch you all later when I have more news!

Undertaken Cover Reveal

It's time for another cover reveal! I've been asked countless times about the end of days wars in the beginning of Rapture of Avery Maye! "What started them? What's REALLY going on? I know you're hiding things from me, Ema!" This is the prequel you won't want to miss!

Coming soon!

Let's have a giveaway!

Valentine's Day is coming up, so I want to do something fun! Remember when we all used to make fun little Valentine's things, even when we didn't get too involved in the holiday or even care? We should totally do that again!

No, I haven't lost my mind. I don't think. Moving on!

So, anyways! I'm also going to be giving away some fun stuff! Behold!

Alas, Oki the octopus is not a prize. She is part of my Valentine to you guys! I couldn't ask you all to do stuff without doing some stuff myself, could I? I worked pretty hard on her! And see her pretty message to you all?

What you CAN win, though, is that awesome Thirty-One Retro Metro Foldover bag on the left (completely new and unused for anything other than this picture)! Also, you can pick one of those books on the right! It will be signed and everything for you!

So how do you enter? Make a Valentine or a Valentine-inspired craft! It doesn't have to be super fancy, and this isn't a talent contest! Those are no fun! This is a creative project for you all to have FUN with! It doesn't even have to be something specifically for this contest! It can be something you're making with your kids that you want to show off! In fact, I fully encourage crafts with the kids! This is the stuff they'll remember even after you're not around, anymore!

You can use ANY materials you like: paper, clay, post-its, a drawing in the snow/dirt/sidewalk, paints, random stuff scattered around your house ... literally anything your imagination comes up with, USE IT!

You don't even have to mail it out! Just take a picture and send it to me! Put it under MY Facebook posts with this link in it or in a message to my Facebook pages (business or personal)! If you don't feel comfortable with it being seen by everyone, email it to me (emavolfauthor@gmail.com in case that link doesn't work right)! The point of this is to just have fun with it!

The only rules are as follows:
  1. Your entry has to be made by YOU. Help from your kids is fully acceptable. Point being, I should not be able to find your EXACT picture on Google, Pinterest, or whatever. Ideas from these places are totally acceptable, but don't swipe someone else's picture.
  2. If it's a more "adult" craft, please send it to my email. There are teen followers on my pages that I have to take into consideration. Chronicles of Eirny are YA, after all.
  3. Also, please DO NOT send me your porn. Kthx.
  4. Your entries HAVE to be sent to one of MY pages or email, so I can track you down if you win.
  5. Each Valentine or related craft will be worth one entry, and (after the first entry) if you would like more, feel free to make more Valentines OR share this blog post! Just let me know where it is shared so I can check!
  6. I will be drawing a winner out of a bucket on February 14th! That's two full weeks!

Have fun and good luck!

New Year means new projects!

So my focus for the moment is officially on Undertaken, which is an Eirny prequel! This is the one that I got the most requests for, and I'm determined to deliver this year! So determined that I've contacted some really amazing people, and we're starting the cover VERY soon! I can't wait to have more information to give you!

Since it's been a while since I've worked on this story, I had to go back through and see what I've written so far. And one of the things I'd totally forgotten is that when I deal with the main character, Madeline, I'm also dealing with Adalyn! Out of curiosity, does anyone remember who Adalyn is? If so, you can tell why I'm kind of excited about it!

I really have a few books that are SO CLOSE to being done, but I just haven't gotten to the end yet. This needs to change. So my writing to-do list looks about like this:

1. Undertaken - Eirny Prequel with the demons
2. Of Land & Sea - Eirny Prequel with the merfolk
3. Unnamed Contemporary Romance
4. Unnamed Young Adult Paranormal aliens (probably) short story

Anyways, back to the manuscript! I hope you guys are having a great weekend!
